Project Kaida - April 2024

Recent outreach activities

Project Kaida will redevelop The Gurkha Museum physically, with the transformation of the Library and exhibition spaces, and digitally, with the digitisation of the archives and collection of oral histories.  Project Kaida will also fund a five-year outreach and education program that will take Gurkha heritage beyond the four walls in Winchester.

Last month, staff from the Museum visited a couple of Gurkha and Nepalese community groups to discuss Project Kaida, Gurkha heritage and share stories while handling items from the Museum’s collection.

Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Museum’s fledgling outreach activities are reiterating the value of heritage in our veterans’ lives. Our gratitude to our Life Friend Kamal Purja for supporting the outreach of Gurkha heritage to Maddhat Shamuhah and EGNA Elders Group.
