Plan a visit to the Gurkha Museum

नमस्ते (Namaste) and स्वागतम् (Welcome) to The Gurkha Museum Trust.

As planned, the redevelopment of the public galleries at The Gurkha Museum started on Monday 8 September 2025.

As part of Project Kaidathe Gurkhas’ collection has been removed and placed into secure storage, and the tired thirty-year old displays has been stripped out from the public galleries on the ground and first floors.  Updates and photographs of the redevelopment will be shared monthly via our e-newsletters, subscribe here to follow our progress: www.TheGurkhaMuseum.co.uk/Newsletter.

Throughout the forthcoming redevelopment, known by its Nepali name Project Kaida, The Gurkha Museum will remain open and operational. The Museum will continue to preserve, protect, and promote Gurkha heritage.  Even when the public galleries (ground and first floors only) undergo essential renovations, the library, research area, and office on the second floor will be open. We will continue our offer of engaging exhibitions, events, lectures and supporting you.

We look forward to seeing you to our various events and lecture as well as welcoming you to the new public galleries

Please note that there will be no public access to the public galleries (ground and first floors only)

The Gurkha Museum’s office, research space, library, and McDonald Gallery will remain open and operational through the renovation.
