Join us on 13 June 2025 for an engaging lecture by Lieutenant Colonel Mike Tickner as he explores the extraordinary training methods that led the Indian Army and Gurkhas to victory in the Second World War.

Held in the refurbished library at The Gurkha Museum, the event begins with complimentary tea and coffee. After the captivating talk, there will be a Q&A session, followed by an option to savour a traditional two-course Gurkha curry in the Grand McDonald Gallery.

Today, we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the

Today, we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Medicina.

Nine Gurkha battalions fought with determination in Italy, facing fierce battles at Monte Cassino and the Gothic Line. Despite heavy losses, the 43rd Gurkha Brigade, under Brigadier ‘Tochi’ Barker, was tasked with capturing the medieval town of Medicina from retreating German forces.

The 2nd Battalion, 6th Gurkha Rifles (2/6 GR), led the attack, supported by the 14th/20th Kings Hussars. The fighting was intense and close-quarters, with the town secured by Allied forces by 9 PM on the 16th.

This victory is commemorated by the bond between the Royal #Gurkha Rifles and the Kings Royal Hussars, who share a museum building within the Peninsula Barracks.
