MR Brooks Esq MA
Martin Brooks has chaired the Gurkha Museum Trust since 2016.
He served with the 7th Duke of Edinburgh’s Own Gurkha Rifles. Thereafter, he spent twenty years at the Financial Times, latterly as chief executive of its Information Division before going on to chair Idox plc, the quoted software company until 2015.
Martin has been a director or adviser to a number of organisations, including chairing three not-for-profit organisations; the Camelot Foundation a grant-giving charity, the publishing company of the Institute of Charted Accountants (ICAEW) and the Cornwall Development Company. He is currently a trustee of the Royal Cornwall Museum.
Martin was educated at Oxford University and attended the Smaller Companies Executive Program at Stanford Graduate School of Business. More recently, he took a masters degree at the School of Oriental and African Studies specialising in the Himalaya, while also completing a one-year module in Museums, Heritage and Material Culture.
