Nepal Cup trophies
There are a number of significant sporting events within the Brigade of Gurkhas’ calendar, but perhaps none more prestigious than the Nepal Cup. Competed for annually in an inter-unit football competition within the Brigade, the cup itself dates back to 1948 when it was first presented by the Prime Minister of Nepal. The final of the Nepal Cup is normally held during the Brigade Bhela, an event that also includes a tug-of-war competition, Thelo (Nepali shotput), and a veterans’ football match final for the Kathmandu Cup.
