The Indonesia-Malaysia Confrontation, commonly kno

The Indonesia-Malaysia Confrontation, commonly known as the Borneo Confrontation or Konfrontasi, began in 1962 when the Republic of Indonesia attempted to exert control over the provinces of Sabah and Sarawak on the island of Borneo. These provinces were part of the newly established Federation of Malaysia. In response to these incursions, British troops were deployed to support Malaysia in combating the border attacks from Indonesian forces and pro-Indonesian militias.

"Bravery in Borneo" focuses on the battle for Track 6. In March 1964, a company of the 10th Gurkha Rifles engaged in a brutal close-quarters skirmish with elements of an Indonesian raider battalion. This fighting resulted in the deaths of three Gurkha soldiers and marked a significant escalation in the intensity of the Borneo Confrontation.

This metal tankard was awarded as a prize in a bil

This metal tankard was awarded as a prize in a billiards competition held in September 1946. This tankard is part of Colonel Armstrong's collection from the 7th Gurkha Rifles. During the 19th and 20th centuries, billiards tables were commonly found in the British officers' mess, including Gurkha regiments. This unique tankard is currently on display at The Gurkha Museum Trust as part of a free temporary exhibition.
