Imphal and Kohima 1944 – Lecture and curry dinner

Imphal and Kohima 1944 – 80th Anniversary

Marking the 80th anniversary of the battles of Imphal and Kohima join Tim Bean, a senior lecturer from the War Studies department at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, to discover their immediate impact and wider significance.

Fought between 8 March and 18 July 1944, these battles were the turning point of one of the most gruelling campaigns of the Second World War.  The decisive Japanese defeat in north-east India became the springboard for Slim’s Fourteenth Army’s subsequent re-conquest of Burma.

We hope you can join us for this interesting lecture and discover the role Gurkha soldiers made during these often overlooked but critical battles.  The lecture will be followed by a curry in the magnificent McDonald Gallery at The Gurkha Museum.
