Bravery in Burma – Evening Lecture with The Director and Assistant Curator

As of 1945, the conclusion of the Second World War was imminent, though it had not yet been achieved. The forces of General William “Bill” Slim’s 14th Army were prepared to advance back into Burma and reclaim the territory from Imperial Japan. The hard-fought progress of the 14th Army South in 1945 provides the backdrop for the stories of the final two Gurkha Victoria Crosses awarded for the Burma Campaign. to Riflemen Bhanbhagta Gurung and Lachhiman Gurung.

The history of the reconquest of Burma in 1945 and the stories behind the bravery of these two Gurkhas will be told in this lecture, jointly by the museum’s Director, Daren Bowyer, and Assistant Curator, Doug Henderson.

The event

Delivered in the Gurkha Museum’s library, this lecture will be followed by a question-and-answer (Q&A) session. There are two ticketing options to experience this lecture:
