The Chindits Lecture and Curry

The Chindits Lecture and Curry

£45.00

In late 1941, Imperial Japan attacked U.S. and British Commonwealth forces across East Asia. Malaya and much of Burma had fallen by April 1942.

In response, Allied Forces turned towards Colonel Charles Orde Wingate for a solution.  His unconventional approach saw a series of guerrilla units conduct ‘Long-Range Penetration’ into Japanese-held Burma.

These Long-Range Penetration units would become known as The Chindits, the grit and determination of this battle unit during the Burma campaign means it is now remembered as one of the fiercest in history.

Join Assistant Curator, Doug Henderson for a lecture on The Chindits and their forays into enemy territory. The evening lecture will be followed by a Question-and-Answer session and a three course Nepali curry buffet. Tickets will also include a glass of wine, beer or soft drink.
