Dr Robert Lyman FRHistS – Field Marshal The Viscount Slim’s approach to War and the strategies he deployed to defeat the Japanese.
The Gurkha Museum are delighted to welcome author and historian Dr Robert Lynam, who will give a lecture on Field Marshal The Viscount. Robert Lyman was commissioned to write a short biography on Field Marshal Slim in the Osprey ‘Command’ series, published in the Spring of 2011. ‘Bill’ Slim was one of the greatest British generals of World War II. In a career that stretched from 1914 until 1958, Bill Slim’s greatest triumphs came in India and Burma in the long war against the Japanese.

Following the latest Government guidance regarding COVID-19 and careful consideration of the current situation, The Gurkha Museum has decided to close its doors to the public in the interest of visitor and staff safety, effective immediately.
The Museum will remain closed until further notice but will continue to operate behind the scenes with reduced staff on call to answer queries during this time.
