Gurkha Recruitment – an insight from Officers and Soldiers from the Brigade into the unique recruitment of Gurkha Soldiers from Nepal
Each year thousands of young men in Nepal apply to join the Brigade of Gurkhas. In August and September they go through regional selection, including vigorous physical fitness tests and literacy exams, and by the end of the year the final few hundred are called in to camp in Pokhara. There are only a limited number of places available and it’s down to the recruiting teams to make sure they select the best. In this lecture you’ll hear from members of the Brigade how each year they whittle 10,000 aspiring Gurkhas down to the 300.
Tickets are priced at £35 per head (£32 for Museum Friends) and includes tea and coffee on arrival, the lecture and a two course curry lunch in the Gallery. Please call 01962 842832 ext 6 or email email@example.com to book.
